So far, Jimmy seems like a lonely and confused kid. He daydreams about things you would expect a little kid to dream about. He doesn't really have the enthusiasm to school. He might have had some problems as a little kid.
Why does he holding back from his dad? Why doesn't he just tell crab how he feels about him. Instead of keep hiding his feelings from crab. At certain times in the story they connect like father and son. Why did crab lie to mama Jean? What if she helped him out.
I dont understand why he just doesnt show up to school on time, it makes no sense to me because he gets bad grades but is very smart. I think that hbe4 should have tried harder because he would be better off.
i think jimmy fells surprised and mysterious. to me jimmy likes it because she really dos'ent get on him all like that. she just wants him to do what he needs to do in school.
I didn't like the ending at all because Jimmy's dad had to just die. Why couldn't he just be apart of Jimmy's life and finish raising him? It would have been better if he turned himself in filed for an appeal and won his freedom. Then if he then stated catching up with Jimmy. All of Walter Dean Myers books endings are good. I dont know about this one.
I wonder what Jimmy's mom was like. They should at least told us a little about her. I wonder how did Crab,Mama Jean, and his mom meet each other. How did Crab die? I didn't understand how he died. Why didn't Crab tell Mama Jean the truth?

Cookie has told him that some mysterious man is looking for him and is creeping around on his floor. Who is the man? Jimmy has a few ideas but nothing completely correct.
The man creeping around looking for Jimmy is Jimmy's dad. He goes by the name of Crab. He has just been released out of prison a week or so ago. Jimmy doesn't really know what to say to him. Then Mama Jean comes home. When she sees Crab its almost like shes very happy to see him. But, Crab has some news to tell her.
Mama Jean feels sad and doesnt wana let him go because she raise him and she protected him she gets on him bout school and she is hard knock but some down falls are that she's not his real mom and she is older so it kinda would be better.
Crab comes to jimmy's house to talk to him and jimmy was surpised that he came because he was in jail for almost nine years because he killed some one cause he needed money bt jimmy was surpised cuase he didint think it was his real dad cause he different from the picture in the photo ablum

jimmy got to school late and i guess his friend didnt see him for a while.but he fill him in on what happpen. billy the basket ball player got cut by taylor D. they sed the bball player started it. but when jimmy first got dere he was late and the asstiance princpal was there and sent him to dentention. jimmy hasnt been inschool. the reason they sent him back to class they knew the other kids would mess up on th test they were taking so they let him go.
jimmys friend wanted him to play a b-ball game with him agaist richie and his crew and he sed he will see what he can and his friend sed he was starting to be jive cause he think he anite gone play with him. he alos helped Mr.johnson from the kids he came home and someone was looking for him so he checked the mail and everything because he wanted to know who it was
So i guess at the end of the book Jimmy finally excepts his dad. Because he calls him "daddy" before he dies. He said it at the right time because all that time he was spending with his dad he was getting to know him. So by saying "daddy" instead of Crab he excepts him. But did he just say daddy because he felt it was the right time to say it? Or just to say it? I wonder.
